nice job citing all the songwriters on those bluesy songs - that was spot on.

BUt eASY on THe caps bryanE...spencer is one of the blues guys, there is a group of people, it is to some a secret society much like the world of the dead, ...a group of people who are endowed by god with the ability to spot the TRUE BLUES when they hear it. they know it when they hear it, ok?...(don't ask)...

they MIGHT be able to explaaain it to you but really, either you get it, or, you dont...like TERRELL OWENS eloquently stated when pressed by the SF PRESS about whether jeff garcia was gay....he so confidently let us know that "if it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck that usually (in terrell's vast experience with ducks and their ways)...usually IT's A DUCK

Most people here are well aware that I don't type in all-caps. Two things were going on with that:

1. I was amusing myself as much as anything.

2. I was also reacting to someone insulting us.

If the guy knows blues, he sure didn't come off that way. I do know, though, that he's got nothing on me as far as an understanding of the form and The Grateful Dead's place in its legacy.

Again chief if you think the Dead were blues than NO BryanE you have no idea what the blues are and need to study up on music.

Earl B Powell has it right guy and a very good explanation instead of your whacked out mental meltdown trying to show me down. I touched on it a little bit but you stupid closed minded idiots get me too frustrated to explain it.

You have confused R and B and bluesy type of riffs with what the Dead did. It's old, tiresome and it reeks of ignorance on most of you peoples part. When the Dead covered a blues tune they usually added their brand and style to it MAKING it not a blues tunes any longer. Do yourself a favor study up on time signatures, song structures and compare it to a blues song and Dead rendition of it. Jerry's riff were not in the traditional blues scales THAT blues players stick to. Honestly he was better than most blues guitarists and added NOTES outside of what is considered blues. DO you get that yet or are you going to keep sticking to your stubborn beliefs that Jerry played blues riffs because HE didn't guy he played ROCK AND ROLL.

MAYBE YOU WILL SEE THE LIGHT THEN?

But maybe not until you get the head help you need first.

No shit.

I've always hated watching the replay of that, but excellent choice, bluedevil, excellent choice.
